There is a temptation, when a shaft goes black, to assume something changed. A darker finish reads as a different product — more aggressive, more premium, more something. The Tour 120 Luxury Black exists specifically to defeat that assumption. It is the same Tour 120 that's earned its reputation for a smooth load-to-release transition and a controlled mid-weight feel — with nothing touched except what the eye sees.

Black steel shafts have a history of disappointing the golfers who choose them. Most rely on a painted or topically coated surface, and paint does not survive golf — it survives the showroom, not a few hundred pulls from the bag or a bunker shot that catches the shaft instead of the sand. The Luxury Black finish is built differently. Rather than sitting on top of the steel, the colour is established through a plating process — a patented trivalent chromium method (Patent No. 3964227) that integrates into the surface itself rather than coating over it. The result is a matte black that holds its depth across a full season of play, with the added benefit of cutting glare at address.

The environmental case matters too. Trivalent chromium plating significantly reduces the environmental load of manufacturing compared to the conventional plating methods still standard across the industry.

Nothing about how it plays has changed. The Tour 120 retains its established mid-weight profile and smooth transition — the exact specifications, weight, and flex characteristics of the standard chrome Tour 120, just finished the way the tour increasingly wants it.

Available as a #5–PW set with the option to extend to #4–PW, #3–PW, or #2–PW, and to add matching wedge shafts. Fitted and installed at the Torque Golf studio at Warren Golf & Country Club, Singapore, or via remote consultation for international orders.
